Chladophora Aegagrophila - Moss ball
Chladophora Aegagrophila - Moss ball
The moss ball is in fact an algae that has grown into a spherical shape.
They float on the water surface as a result of gases released during photosynthesis and respiration and sink again when the gases are released.
They are found in shallow lakes, where the gentle movement of the waves creates the characteristic spherical shape.
To prevent the moss balls from developing brown spots and to maintain the ball's correct shape, it is best to turn it regularly.
