Shrimp King Color are sinking, water-stable food pads made from 100% natural ingredients for the natural color enhancement of freshwater dwarf shrimps.

Yellow, orange and red shrimps cannot produce the pigments that cause their beautiful body colours themselves, but must absorb them with their food. These pigments, so-called carotenoids, are mainly present in algae, flowers, fruits or leafy vegetables.
Shrimp or crayfish convert carotenoids into their own pigments, especially astaxanthin, which forms a molecular bond with the protein beta-crustacyanin. These molecular bonds are stored in special colour cells and provide the species-specific colouring of the shrimp.

The situation with shrimps is similar to that of the well-known pink flamingos: if these birds eat small, carotenoid-rich crustaceans such as artemia, their feathers turn pink due to the carotenoid or astaxanthin they contain.
However, if their food does not contain natural colorants, they lose their natural color and turn white.
