Maximum optimization of biological filtration

The original sera siporax Professional is suitable for use in freshwater and marine aquariums as well as for use in ponds. Regardless of the type of filter (internal/external/spray filter), the surface area required for biological purification is maximized and thus offers the optimal substrate for the settlement of the necessary filter bacteria.

In nature, filter and decomposition processes in the bottom of waters play a very important role. Organic waste materials are transformed by micro-organisms and are thus available again as nutrients for water plants for the natural cycle – harmful substances such as ammonium, nitrite and nitrate are removed. Because there is little waste in nature in relation to the amount of water, the available surface of the bottom soil is sufficient to accommodate enough micro-organisms.
But in an aquarium there is a small biotope in the smallest space. In order to ensure a complete and safe decomposition of organic remains, it is therefore necessary to increase the settlement area as much as possible.

Unlike other filter rings available on the market, sera siporax consists of sintered glass. The unique material convinces with a special three-dimensional pore structure. This allows for a maximum increase in surface area. At the same time, the fine pores create ideal settlement conditions for bacteria that break down pollutants. Since it is an interconnected system, the bacteria are permanently surrounded by water and can thus break down pollutants with the greatest possible efficiency. Furthermore, the unique arrangement of the pores allows for self-cleaning of the substrate and therefore very long service lives of the filter.
In combination with specialized bacteria, sera siporax also enables a variety of other special applications, such as algae prevention or targeted water treatment.
