Spirulina is made from blue-green algae, some of which, such as the S. Platensis processed here, have the ideal protein content for ornamental fish. Incidentally, the spirulina content of 20% in JBL PRONOVO Spirulina is optimal – more would not be healthy for the fish! The natural astaxanthin (a carotene) in the algae ensures a beautiful color formation in the fish. This is also why spirulina algae are very popular in the care of ornamental fish.
